Carrie Bernier

Carrie has devoted her career to furthering gender equity for women and girls.  She has more than twenty-five years of experience working in the nonprofit and legal sectors. Most recently she has worked as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Norwalk Community College Foundation and as the Executive Director of The Community Fund of Darien.

Carrie has also worked in public interest law as an Assistant State’s Attorney managing the domestic violence docket and as a family law attorney specializing in domestic violence divorce and child custody. Prior to earning her Juris Doctor degree, she worked in the nonprofit sector as a Community Educator at the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, a Youth and Family Counselor at Kids in Crisis, and served as a Volunteer in Service to America on the Fort Berthold Native American Reservation in North Dakota.

Carrie earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a concentration in women’s studies from Boston College, a Master’s Certificate from the University of Massachusetts Institute for Policy and Global Studies with the Program for Women in Politics and Public Policy, and a Juris Doctor from the Pace University School of Law.
